Tacompai again. Although it is almost a month since we arrived in Laos, a country of bamboo huts, beautiful Mekong river and stunning mountains. In a way it has a similar feeling to Tacompai, but on bigger scale. What in Tacompai was an attempt to create a place where people live in a traditional way in Laos is a reality. Some say that this is what Thailand was 30 years ago. I love it in here as much as I loved Tacompai. Too bad our visa is running out in a few days. For now we are around Bolaven Plateau, near Cambodian border.
Beautiful bamboo bowls which we used for serving food in Tacompai. I have to say that cooking on real fire was a bit challenging, but I loved beautiful things they were curving from bamboo – everything starting with bowls and finishing with cutlery! There are real masters of bamboo craft.
This is a Karen House – traditionally built bamboo house inspired by huts built by the tribal people around Pai.
With Julia and Paom Hom, a Burmese girl that has the most beautiful name in the world meaning a forest flower.
A New Year celebration in the village Bin Tin That. A lots of music and a procession visiting all the relatives in the village, and as they are all in some way related it is a day long event.
Hi, now we are following your travels with great interest and envy. what an experience you are having. Everyone who goes to India seems to fall in love with the country. Is it the landscape, the people, the religions? Probably all together. Laos looks beautiful, and your photos are good. April here was warm and sunny May is cold and grey, so looking at your photos is a warming experience.
We loved the Pie Powder sequence. That boat is still not ready for use, but we plan to go far north this year if there is the time.
